Welcome to the 78!
The 78 is a restaurant/bar located at 14 Kelvinhaugh Street, in Glasgow's west end.
When our sister venue Stereo relocated from Kelvinhaugh St to Glasgow`s city centre we took the opportunity to revamp and re-decorate the space in a beautiful retro style.
With a roaring coal fire, comfy armchairs, sofa`s, chunky wooden tables, floor length French windows and an old hmv 78 record player, we have created a bright, cosy, relaxed and welcoming environment.
Opening in February 2007 we quickly established ourselves as a welcome option for vegan dining and/or a relaxing drink, that is refreshingly non-corporate and far removed from the clones or chains of eating out possibilities generally found on the high street. We are committed to providing quality food and drink at reasonable prices.

What we offer...
Our menu is 100% vegan and is therefore free from animal produce. The full menu offers a wide selection of starters, main courses (served in generous portions that would satisfy the largest of appetites), daily specials, sandwiches and a range of desserts. We also provide a selection of that vegetarian staple, the "veggie burger" - tofu, chickpea and our own classic, which is possibly the best in Glasgow.
We have an extensive range of draught and bottled ales, beers, wine and soft drinks.
Our entire drinks range is 100% free from any animal produce and many of those on offer are also organic.
Since November 2008 we have been offering our Meat Free Mondays special to our customers to help highlight the impact of the meat industry on our environment. Please see the food tab or twitter feed for this Mondays offer.
In addition we have a free entertainment program including dj`s at the weekends, live jazz on Sundays, the legendary ‘dub'n'grub' on Thursdays and our open mic night ‘sing and drink' on Wednesdays.
The 78 has become a social hub and regularly used for meetings for groups including Glasgow University Vegan Society and Glasgow Herbalists.
